Teagasc and Sheep Ireland Technicians were visiting the second of the six flocks involved in OviData. The second flock is that of Tomas O’ Learys’s in County Kerry. While visiting the flock yesterday, tissues samples for DNA extraction were collected along with phenotype’s such as lameness, body condition score (BCS) and dag scores taken. Once the DNA is extracted from the tissue samples, the results will be used for parentage verification and for further research.

Sheep Ireland’s Technicians are currently out on the third farm involved in OviData today.
