OviData – European Innovation Partnership project
OviData aims to increase sheep genetic gain in Ireland through scientific data capture and analysis. The unique element of this project is that the parentage of lambs will be assigned via genomics. All lambs will have a tissue sample collected at birth as part of their NSIS tag. This is a 5 year project with the first lambing season in 2019 and will be lead by a very experienced, multidisciplinary Operational Group. OviData was formally launched in September 2018.
