Over 1,700 flocks have signed up to performance record their animals in 2026.
Now that the deadline for joining LambPlus has passed for lowland breeders, we can see that the number of breeders that have joined the LambPlus performance recording programme has continued to rise in 2026 with a 4% increase since last year.

The growth of the LambPlus programme is a very positive message for the Irish Sheep Industry as this has multiple implications:

It shows that more and more breeders are seeing the benefit of performance recording their flocks.

More flocks performance recording means more rams with Euro-Stars will be available for commercial farmers to select from in 2026.

More flocks recording means more data will be flowing into the EuroStar evaluations each week which will result in more accurate evaluations for everyone.
About LambPlus:
LambPlus is the performance recording service provided by Sheep Ireland to all pedigree and commercial sheep farmers in Ireland.
As part of LambPlus, farmers record a variety of key events such as mating, pregnancy scanning, lambing information and weights.
Once key performance information is entered, genetic evaluations are generated, and €urostar Indexes are produced for all animals involved in the programme.
Genetic Evaluations are the core of Sheep Ireland’s objective as these allow farmers to compare rams from different farms based on their breeding potential and future profitability potential.
Sheep Ireland runs a weekly single-step across-breed genomic evaluation to help ensure breeding decisions on EBVs are based on the most up-to-date information available at the time.
The genetic evaluation results are available on each breeder’s personal account and also on the Sheep Ireland Ram Search which can be found at www.ramsearch.ie.
