Timeliness of Pregnancy Scanning

To achieve full marks for pregnancy scanning you should have your pregnancy scans recorded on the ewe at least 3 weeks before the ewe lambs. The timeliness of the pregnancy scans input is calculated as soon as you record that ewe as lambed.

Once the scans were recorded three weeks before the lambing date you will achieve full marks. The closer to the lambing date that you record your pregnancy scans the less marks will be awarded.

Timeliness of recordings is an important component of your Data Quality Index (DQI)

Why is Timeliness important?

• Reduces data error/loss. A critical element to reducing fluctuations in star movements.
• Data needs to be recorded ASAP after collection.
• The sooner the information gets into evaluations, the more accurate indexes earlier in the season.

Things to consider for timeliness:

  • The longer timeliness = less marks received.
  • Use the free LambPlus app to record (works offline) and data will update automatically.

Pregnancy Scanning Timeliness:

The timeliness of pregnancy scanning is recorded slightly differently to other events recorded during the year.
