Weekly Update: 18/11/16

Agricultural college visits

  • This week Sheep Ireland visited Clonakilty Agricultural College. This visit was part of our effort to engage with and visit all agricultural education facilities each year. Educating the next generation of young farmers and agricultural industry professionals as to the benefits and potential of sheep genetic improvement will only bode well for the future.
  • As part of these college visits, we also supply Sheep Ireland information boards for erection in or around each college’s farm facilities. These are very useful teaching aids and will hopefully help to reinforce our key messages.

Agribusiness Awards 2016

Sheep Ireland were delighted to be included as one of the nominees in last night’s Agribusiness awards held in the Ballsbridge hotel, Co. Dublin. The category in which Sheep Ireland was nominated was ‘Excellence in the Provision of Professional Services’. We were up against some stiff opposition, namely our sister organisation, the ICBF who deservedly won the award. This was a great showcase event for Irish agriculture and one which Sheep Ireland was delighted to be involved in. For a full list of award winners from the night click here.

Sheep Ireland board meeting next week

The next meeting of board members takes place next Thursday 24th November. An update on the topics discussed will be included in this update next Friday.
