Sheep Ireland September board meeting
On Thursday 14th Sept the board of Sheep Ireland representatives met. A number of topics were discussed at this meeting including;
- The LambPlus sale 2017
- Changes required to the DQI formulation for 2018
- Plans for our CPT AI this October
- Plans for a meeting with society representatives in October
- Genetic evaluations developments
- Testing across breed indexes later this year/early 2018
- Testing genomic breeding indexes
- Updating the Bio-economic model which is used in the SI indexes
- Update on genomics
Ploughing Championships 2017
Sheep Ireland will taking part in the Irish Farmers Journal livestock demonstration stand. This event provides a great opportunity for Sheep Ireland to promote pedigree ram breeders involved in the LambPlus programme.
The message being delivered will be simple ones based around using the ‘team’ concept when using low accuracy% €uroStar indexes. We will also be highlighting the Data Quality Index as something which ram buyers should consider when purchasing €uroStar rams.
