Weekly Update: 20/10/17

Recording Matings

  • Flocks that have completed their matings for the 2017/2018 season should now be thinking about recording this information on their Sheep Ireland account. For some societies it is mandatory to record the mating information of all pedigree ewes, outside of this requirement it is also very beneficial to record this information from a management point of view. Once mating is recorded a mating report will be generated with some useful stats. By recording matings breeders will also get the benefit of then having suggested sires appear on the lambing page which will help to speed up the process of recording lambing information
    in the spring.

CPT Update

  • There were some tough challenges this week as over 350 ewes had to be AI’d last Monday during storm Ophelia, however all ewes got AI’d on time, which is full credit to the team on the day.
  • As of today (Friday 20th) we have over 1500 ewes AI’s with the remaining 600 ewes to be AI’d by
Wednesday next week, some rams have already been sent home as they have reached their quota , and we plan to have all rams home again this time next week.
