Last Thursday Sheep Ireland and Teagasc visited Tomas O’Toole’s flock based in beautiful Clifden, County Galway. Tomas is the newest participant to the Teagasc BETTER farms program and the Ovidata project. Whilst on farm, a wide range of data was collected such as lamb weights, ewe mature weights, lameness, dag score, body condition score and mastitis. DNA samples were taken from all the ewes and rams in the flock. All the lamb’s on the farm had their DNA samples taken at birth.
Take a look at the beautiful scenery that the Sheep Ireland and Teagasc staff go to enjoy while they were hard at work!
