The easiest ways to find SIS-eligible rams are:
Ram Search web [www.ramsearch.ie]
Sheep Ireland website [www.sheep.ie] by clicking on the SIS Ram Search green button or on the Ram Search tab.
Also, a list of ram breeders with suitable rams for sale is included in the Sheep Ireland Guide and Directory of Breeders, which is published every year [electronic version available on www.sheep.ie – Publications (click)]. Breed societies sales across Ireland will also be providing this information, so view your relevant breeds website/Facebook page to identify ram sale dates. We’ll be also updating a list of Ram sales (click) and catalogues will be available.
Once you access our Ram Search, you will find 3 options for searching:
- Flockbook Animals
If you want to search using the Rams tab, you will be able to filter by: breed, age, SIS eligible, Replacement and Terminal indexes star ratings. Also, by clicking on each County, you will be able to select by region.
How do I know if a Ram is SIS eligible?
You can select the SIS button for displaying only the eligible rams. Also, next to each ram ID you will find a green flag when the animal is eligible and a red flag when it’s NOT eligible:
If you want to search using the Breeders tab, you will be able to filter by: Breed, Ewes lambed This Year, DQI, and also by clicking on each County you will be able to select by region.
If you have the Ram ID or name, you can search directly by entering: NSIS, Pedrigree ID, animal name, etc.
