Demand for SIS Hill rams (sire verified & scrapie type 1-2-3) is predicted to increase again this season.

Hill Breeding Groups have been working together with Sheep Ireland taking action to support farmers’ requirements for the Sheep Improvement Scheme (SIS). Breeders wanting to genotype their rams should be members of a Hill Group.

Breeders can expect an earlier and higher demand this season, so Sheep Ireland strongly recommends genotyping immediately any rams you intend to sell.

Also, any stock ram in you flock that is not genotyped, should be DNA tested ASAP for getting the sire verification for your hoggets and lambs.

DNA combo tags are a very convenient way to get your hogget rams and ram lambs genotyped, avoiding using a DNA 3rd tag later. Get your rams genotyped earlier in the season, and save time and money.
