Sheep Ireland will be implementing new updates to the Pedigree certs generated on the Sheep Ireland database. These changes will take place for approved Flockbooks while there will also be changes made to other societies that host their Flockbook on the Sheep Ireland database. Currently Sheep Ireland hosts 7 Flockbooks with all of these having the ability to generate Pedigree certs. The cert changes are in compliance with Zootechnical certificate, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/1012, for trade in purebred breeding animals of the following species: (c) Ovine Species (Ovis aries). This means that all Department approved certs across species within the EU will be in a consistent format. The new Pedigree certs are due to be released on November 1st 2018. Sheep Ireland have been working hard to get the changes implemented prior to this date and have been in regular discussions with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine as well as breed societies.
