Check the latest Weighing Report updates

The new weighing report allows you to see the weights recorded on your flock in the lambing season selected,  offering a wide range of filters allowing to further investigate the flock performance.

Once you log into your Sheep Ireland account, go to ‘Reports’ then from the drop down menu select ‘Weighing Report’.

The “Weights” tab

By default, the weigh report table displays all weights recorded on your flock within the current lambing season.

We have added a range of filters that will allow you to further investigate flock performance.

The weigh report can now be filtered by animal purpose (Pedigree / Commercial) and by breed.

You simply click on the group which you want to investigate, multiple filters can be applied at a time. When using the breed filters in the commercial tab, they are being filtered by the main breed %.  You can also search for animals tag to view all its recorded weight records.

The table of results can be filtered by selecting the “Date from” and “Date to” calendar option and selecting the period which you want to view the weights for from the calendar.

The table of weights can be further filtered down by sex, year of birth, rearing rank, management group and weight bracket. You can select multiple options from each dropdown filter.

  • Rearing rank– refers to the order based on the number of lambs reared. For example, if a ewe gives birth to triplets, and one lamb is reared as a pet and bottle fed – all 3 lambs birth ranks are triplets, but the two lambs that stayed with the mother and are reared naturally are a “Double” rearing rank and the pet lamb is a “Pet” rearing rank.
  • Management group– Animals that are managed under different conditions to other animals in the same flocks can record management groups, so they can be fairly accessed in the evaluation. For example, if at weaning time you separate ram lambs being creep fed  from ewe lambs on grass only, these animals should be placed in different management groups so that the weights are not being compared against each other.
  • Weight bracket – this filters the table into each lambs weight bracket for flock performance recording.  For example, the 40day bracket filters weights where the animals age at weighing was 20-65 days of age. Read more about the weight recording brackets here.

Just above the table of weights we have a summary table that displays the average weight, smallest (min) and largest (max) weight as well as the average “ADG” (average daily gain) for the weights displayed in the table.

This data updates as you apply filters allowing you to easily compare how different groups are performing at different times of the year.

If you would like to further examine your weights you can download this data into an excel file by selecting the “download” option on the top right of the screen.

The download function give you the option to download “All weights” and the “Current selection”. The current selection option downloads only the selection of animals that are appearing on the weights table- for example if you have applied filters to only show a certain group, they are the only weights that will be in the excel download.

Next to the download option on the left you will see a link to your flocks ram report, where you can view your lamb performance grouped by sire. To the right of this is the option to change your weigh reports year.

The “Lambs ADG” tab

This new graph displays the ADG (Average daily gain) for your lambs within the current year for each weight bracket (40 / 100/ 150).

The purpose of this graph is to show you at a glance how your lambs are performing. The graph can again be filtered by purpose (Pedigree / Commercial) and by main breed. The default option on this bar graph displays the current year. If you want to compare your lambs performance again the previous 5 years you simply click on the year filters at the side.

You can hover over each bar chart to tell you how many animals are contributing to this ADG as well as the Adj Average weight for each bracket.
