Don’t forget to record your lambing information before April 30th. In order for any animal to retrieve Eurostar’s this year, breeders are required by Sheep Ireland as well as the majority of breed societies to register lamb births before 30th April. Any animals recorded after this date will not receive Eurostar’s this year. Currently, there are over 33,000 lambs recorded on the Sheep Ireland database. Sheep Ireland provides Lambing Reports to all LambPlus breeders based on the lambing information submitted. This report gives a summary of your lambing season – number of lambs born (of which are singles or multiples), breakdown of mortality, lambing difficulty and birth weights. This report can be downloaded into an excel file (commonly .xlsx (MS Office 2007), once the excel generates, the report can be saved on your own computer for printing. This is a very useful report that breeders should make use of when looking closely at particular lambing seasons as the year can be changed.
