Responsible Use of Antimicrobials on Sheep farms

An issue highlighted during Teagasc Virtual Sheep Week was the use of Antimicrobials on Sheep Farms. Guidelines have been developed by Irish Farmers and Veterinary Practitioners to guide good practice in the responsible prescribing and use of antibiotics in farm animals, in response to the global societal challenge of antimicrobial resistance

This document (below) is a “Code of Good Practice Regarding the Responsible Use of Antimicrobials on Sheep farms” and has been developed collaboratively between farming and veterinary stakeholders on the iNAP Animal Health Implementation Committee and aims to increase farmers awareness as to the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and the need to use antibiotics prudently on sheep farms and reduce usage wherever possible.
