LambPlus Recording Timeline

LambPlus breeders need to record data to help calculate the genetic evaluations.

The following chart provides a clear description of what data needs to be recorded, when it needs to be recorded, and how to record it correctly.

The timeline is based around the 365-day production cycle starting at day 0, which is the day of lambing.

All the data to be recorded at lambing is listed and a description of how to record certain traits is included at the bottom of the wall chart.

If you want to download the timeline chart to save or print it, click on the chart or here:

Weights

There are 5 key weights recorded, namely, birth weight, 40-day weight, 100-day weight (weaning), 150-day weight (muscle and fat scanning) and mature weight.

Many farms will also weight animals in between these points to assess performance but these 5 weights are key time points in the animal’s life to determine performance. Although each weight has a specific day associated with it, the lamb can be weighted within a certain time period around that date and the evaluation will adjust the weight accounting for the date.
