Sheep Ireland’s Winner of the Most Improved LambPlus Flock 2018

The ICBF & Sheep Ireland Genetics Conference took place on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th December in the Hudson Bay Hotel, Athlone. The first day of the conference consisted of the Sheep Session (and dairy session which ran parallel to the sheep session) followed by a conference dinner and awards ceremony. Sheep Ireland were presenting two awards on the night, one of the awards being the Most Improved LambPlus flock 2018. The nominees of this award are as follows; Anne Murphy (Foundry Texel’s (PXI)), Simon Brown (Cloghala Charollais (A2)), Michael Bird (Dunlever Texels (BMI)), Daniel McKenna (Belclares (Pallas (KD)) and James Kelly (Castle Kelly Texels (ILI)).

The winner of the Most improved LambPlus Flock 2018 for her Foundry Texel’s (PXI), was Anne Murphy who is seen pictured above receiving her award presented by Michael Berkery, Chairman of the FBD Trust whom sponsored the event. Anne has been a longstanding active member of the LambPlus program since its origin in 2009. Anne boasts a DQI of 88% showing that she enters all the required valuable data needed for accurate evaluations on a year on year basis.

Runners up Simon Brown, Michael Bird, Daniel McKenna and James Kelly received certificates along with €500 euro cash prize.
